Design Application For Improving Patient Aprons Used in Surgical Operations

Cerrahi Operasyonlarda Kullanılan Hasta Önlüklerinin İyileştirilmesine Yönelik Tasarım Uygulaması

Abstract

This study consisted of two stages in which the patient aprons used in surgical operations are examined according to the opinions of the patients, service and operating room nurses and the design improvements are made. In the first stage, face-to-face interviews were made with patient, service and operating room nurses and semi-structured interview form to determine the problem status of patient aprons used in the current situation and negative aspects of the patient aprons in use were determined. Design critics based on the data obtained have been established. From the design criterias, the items that patients, service and operating room nurses can benefit from in common are prioritized in the design. These; presenting the body due to closure problems of the patient aprons and closure problems, the standard size and problems in patients with obesity problems, especially because of the lack of color and pattern features more often risky patient groups to create a psychological bad effect, arm length - skirt length problems, functionality in the forefront of absence. Based on these design critics, ten patient apron designs were designed to meet the needs at the optimal level according to the opinions of the patient, service and operating room nurses. In the second phase of the study, a designexample will be realized by selecting a design which has multiple functionalities and features to meet the existing needs. As a result of the research, physical and psychological comfort problems of the patients about the aprons, service and operating room nurses experienced psychological and functional comfort problems. Designs aimed at eliminating problems will contribute to the eradication of the ergonomic and psychological problems of patients and nurses and contribute to the corporate image in health institutions.

Cerrahi operasyonlarda kullanılan hasta önlüklerinin hasta, servis ve ameliyathanehemşirelerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda incelenip, tasarım iyileştirmelerinin yapıldığı buaraştırma iki aşamadan oluşmaktadır. Birinci aşamada mevcut durumda kullanılan hastaönlükleri ile ilgili problem durumunun tespitine yönelik hasta, servis ve ameliyathanehemşireleri ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılarak yüz yüze görüşmeleryapılmış ve kullanımda olan hasta önlüklerinin olumsuz yönleri tespit edilmiştir. Ulaşılanverilere dayalı tasarım kritikleri oluşturulmuştur. Bu tasarım kritiklerinden hasta, servisve ameliyathane hemşirelerinin ortak paydada fayda sağlayabileceği maddeler tasarımdaön planda tutulmuştur. Bunlar; mevcut hasta önlüklerinin kapanma problemlerindendolayı bedeni göstermesi ve kapanma sorunları, standart ölçülerde olması ve özellikleobezite problemi olan hastalarda sorun çıkarması, renk ve desen özelliklerinin olmamasınedeni ile daha sıklıkla riskli hasta gruplarınca psikolojik olarak kötü etki yaratması, kolboyu – etek boyu problemleri, fonksiyonelliğin ön planda olmaması olarak ortayaçıkmıştır. Bu tasarım kritikleri başlıca dikkate alınarak hasta, servis ve ameliyathanehemşirelerinin görüşleri doğrultusunda ihtiyaçları optimal düzeyde karşılamaya yönelikon adet önlük tasarımı yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda önlükler ile ilgili hastalarınfiziksel ve psikolojik konfor sorunu yaşarken, servis ve ameliyathane hemşirelerin isepsikolojik ve işlevsel konfor sorunu yaşadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Sorunları gidermeyeyönelik yapılan tasarımlar hasta ve hemşirelerin ergonomik ve psikolojik sorunlarınıgidermeye katkı sağlayacak hem de sağlık kurumlarında kurum imajına katkısağlayacaktır.
