Abstract
This study was carried out in pots in a glass greenhouse at Isparta University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture in 2019 in order to determine the effects of different irrigation levels and vermicompost doses applications on evapotranspiration and yield of basil plant. Soil was used as a growing medium and vermicompost application was done at the rate of 100 and 200 kg da-1 before sowing the seeds. Additional pots which vermicompost were not incorporated were added to the experiment as a control application. Different irrigation water levels (I100: Full Irrigation, I75, I50, I25: limited irrigation and I0: without irrigation) were included to the experiment. The lowest amount of irrigation was in I0 application as 24.8 mm and the highest was in I100V0 as 355 mm. The highest and the lowest evapotranspiration (ET) values for the treatments were determined as 349 mm (I100V0) and 34.3 mm (I0V2), respectively. While green and dry herb yields and plant height values were significantly affected by different irrigation levels (P<0.01), no significant difference was observed between the different vermicompost doses at the same irrigation level in any of the determined parameters. The highest green herb yield was obtained from I100V1 treatment as 1463 kg da-1 and the lowest obtained from I0V2 as 39.5 kg da-1, whereas the highest and lowest dry herb yields were obtained from I100V1 and I0V2 treatments as 297 and 27.1 kg da-1, respectively. In the study, numerically the highest and lowest water use efficiency (WUE) values were calculated as 447 kg da-mm-1 on I75V0 treatment and 115 kg da-mm-1 on the I0V2 treatment. The highest irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE) was found to be 432 kg da-mm-1 for I75V0, and the evapotranspiration coverage rate of irrigation water (IRc) was the highest at I100V2 treatment as 103%. The yield response factor (ky) was determined as 1.18.
