The influence of the Nawbahti Family on the Development of Shiite thought

Abstract

The Nawbahtis were Iranian families who became Muslims during the Abbasid caliph Mansur and entered the service of the Abbasid caliphs. Family members have published very important works in the political, economic and social fields. It is known that this family has serious effects on the development of Shiite thought. Ismail b. Ali Nawbahtî and Abu Muhammad Nawbahtî are among the famous figures of the Nawbahtî family. Their works have been the subject of the lessons of the mutakallim. Hasan b. Ruh was the regent of the 12th Imam of the Shi'i-Imamiyya. They have translated into Arabic the works of philosophy and astronomy that have profoundly influenced Muslim thought along with their royalties. Among the members of the family, poets and poets were raised. The tendency of the Nawbahti to theological issues led to the strengthening of the Baghdad school of science. They had scientific debates on Islamic and philosophical issues with Islamic frigates, especially Mu’tezila. There have been disputes between Ibn Babeveyh and the Nawbahti family, especially on the subject of istidlal. This situation influenced the development of Shiite thought closely. The Sheikh Mufid school in Baghdad was the result of these debates and tendencies.

Nevbahtîler Abbâsî halifesi Mansur döneminde Müslüman olmuş ve Abbâsî halifelerinin hizmetine girmiş İran asıllı bir ailedir. Aile mensupları siyasi, iktisadi ve içtimai alanda çok önemli eserler telif etmişlerdir. Bu ailenin Şiî düşüncenin gelişmesinde ciddi etkilerinin bulunduğu bilinmektedir. İsmail b. Ali Nevbahtî ve Ebû Muhammed Nevbahtî, Nevbahtî ailesinin ilmi alanda meşhur şahsiyetlerindendir. Onların eserleri mütekellimlerin derslerine konu olmuştur. Yine bu ailenin meşhurlarından Hasan b. Ruh Şiî-İmâmiyye’nin 12. İmâmı’nın naibliğini yapmıştır. Onlar, telifleri ile birlikte Müslüman düşünceyi derinden etkileyen felsefi ve astronomi eserlerini Arapçaya tercüme etmişlerdir. Ailenin fertleri arasından edipler ve şairler de yetişmiştir. Nevbahtîlerin kelâmî konulara yönelmesi Bağdat ilim ekolünün güçlenmesine sebep olmuştur. Kelâmî ve felsefi konularda İslâm fırkalarıyla özellikle de Mu’tezile ile ilmi münazaralar yapmışlardır. İbn Babeveyh ve Nevbahtî ailesi arasında özellikle istidlal konularında ihtilaflar meydana gelmiştir. Bu durum Şiî düşüncenin gelişimini yakından etkilemiştir. Bağdat’taki Şeyh Müfîd mektebi bu tartışmaların ve yönelişlerin sonucunda ortaya çıkmıştır.
