Tourism Psychosocial Components: Perceptions, Attitudes And Behaviors of The Local People

Abstract

Tourism is one of the sectors that directly affect the economic growth and development of societies. Since thesector also serves as a measure ofwelfare and development, the components that affect the sector are managed as much as possible through research and planning by professionals working in the field. The management efforts aim to increase and sustain all economic,psycho-cultural and environmental changes. The aim of the present article is to draw attention to the psychocultural components such as perceptions, attitudes and behaviors of the local people, to increase the sustainability of the gains from tourism and finally to provide a conceptual framework that will inspire future studies. In the light of this purpose, firstly conceptual definition was made, then the relevant information about how to convert it to functionality was given, and finally some examples of evidence – based scales that contribute to the applicability of this information were presented. Recommendations were given for future research and projects.

Özet

Turizm toplumların ekonomik büyümesine, gelişmesine doğrudan etkili olan sektörlerden biridir. Bu sektör refah ve kalkınmanın da ölçütü olarak işlev gördüğünden, sektöre etki eden bileşenler alan profesyonellerince yapılan araştırma ve planlamalarla mümkün olduğunca yönetilmeye çalışılır. Bu yönetim çabaları, elde edilen ekonomik gelirler de dahil olmak üzere ekonomik, psiko-kültürel ve çevresel tüm değişimleri arttırmak ve sürdürülebilir hale getirmeyi hedeflemektedir. Bu makalenin amacı turizm alanında elde edilen kazanımların sürdürülebilirliğinin arttırılmasında etkili olan ve psikososyal bileşen olarak işlev gören halkın algı, tutum ve davranışlarına dikkati çekmek ve ileride yapılacak çalışmalara ilham verecek bir kavramsal çerçeve sunmaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda önce kavramsal tanımlama yapılmış, daha sonra işlevselliğe nasıl dönüştürülebileceği konusunda bilgiler sunulmuş, son olarak da bu bilgilerin uygulanabilirliğine katkıda bulunacak kanıta dayalı ölçeklerden örnekler sunularak, önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
