Great Britain’s Relationship Between European Union and Brexit

Abstract

Despite the fact that the result of the Brexit referendum shocked the member states of European Union, they know that they should be respectful of the decision of Britain’s citizens. It is obvious that, the United Kingdom was the one of the most important members during its membership both politically and economically. In this study, the role of the United Kingdom throughout the progress from the European Economic Community to European Union is analyzed. Another aim of this study is to examine the political reasons of the referendum and to point out the political and economic results of it that will occur in the near future.

Büyük Britanya’da yapılan Brexit halk oylamasından çıkan birlikten ayrılma yönündeki karar, Avrupa Birliği kamuoyu ve siyasilerinde şok etkisi yaratmış olsa bile, üye ülkeler Britanya halkının iradesine saygı duyulması gerektiği bilincine sahiptir. Üye olduğu tarihten itibaren Büyük Britanya’ın Avrupa Birliği’nin siyasi ve ekonomik olarak en önemli ülkelerinden biri olduğu naşikâr bir durumdur. Büyük Britanya’nın Avrupa Ekonomik Topluluğu’ndan Avrupa Birliği’ne giden yolda nasıl bir tavır sergilediğini ve bu süreçte nasıl bir rol üstlendiğini bu makale ile inceleyip analiz etmeye çalışılacaktır. Aynı zamanda Büyük Britanya’da nasıl ve neden böyle bir halk oylamasına ihtiyaç duyulduğunu, siyasi sebepleri ile beraber ortaya koyarak yakın dönemde meydana gelebilecek siyasi ve ekonomik gelişmelere işaret etmek makalenin amaçlarından biridir.
