A Research on Occupational Health and Safety as Economic Development Indicators

Abstract
Nowadays, occupational health and safety topic be discussed by both politicians and several experts related to the subject which as generate depending on the economic and social consequences. It can be seen that Turkey get behind in the occupational health and safety by comparison with countries of population and labor force data similar but development level higher. Turkey is among the European countries in the first place at deadly work accident. Therefore, the determination of the relationship between economic development and occupational health and safety is very important. In this study investigated relationship between economic development and occupational health and safety for Turkey and European Countries incidental to 2000-2013 period panel data analysis. According to the results of the analysis of economic development of the country it has been identified a strong relationship between occupational health and safety. According to the results of the analysis of economic development of the country between and occupational health and safety a strong relationship has been determined. The country of occupational health and safety by removing conversion into a business culture based on the investment to be a must have concluded that an important indicator in terms of supporting economic development.
Özet
Günümüzde iş sağlığı ve güvenliği konusu doğurduğu ekonomik ve sosyal sonuçlara bağlı olarak tüm dünyada gerek politikacılar, gerekse konuyla ilişkili çeşitli uzmanlarca yoğun bir biçimde tartışılmaktadır. Nüfus ve işgücü verileri benzer fakat gelişmişlik düzeyi daha yüksek olan ülkelerle karşılaştırıldığında, Türkiye’nin iş sağlığı ve güvenliği konusunda oldukça geri olduğu görülmektedir. Örneğin, Türkiye ölümlü iş kazalarında Avrupa ülkeleri arasında birinci sırada yer almaktadır. Bu sebeple ekonomik gelişmişlik ile iş sağlığı ve güvenliği arasındaki ilişkinin tespiti büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışmada 2000-2013 dönemi için panel veri analizleriyle Türkiye ve Avrupa Birliği Ülkelerinde ekonomik büyüme ile iş sağlığı ve güvenliği arasındaki ilişkiler araştırılmıştır. Analiz bulguları sonucunda ülkelerin ekonomik gelişmişlik düzeyi ile iş sağlığı ve güvenliği arasında güçlü bir ilişki tespit edilmiştir. Ülkelerin iş sağlığı ve güvenliğine dayalı yatırımları bir zorunluluk olmaktan çıkararak bir iş kültürü haline dönüştürmesinin ekonomik gelişmelerini desteklemesi açısından önemli bir gösterge olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
