Abstract
The Renaissance period is a very rich period especially in terms of art. This Italy-based movement, which has emerged from many wars and diseases, clearly shows that a generation has been restored to life with its unique that have survived until today. As in every period, women remained in the secondary plan compared to men in the fields of education and arts and were deprived of many rights. Therefore, this door that Renaissance opened to art was also a light feature for talented women. There were many female artists who had formal or informal education in literature and painting, trained themselves and engraved their works into history. The fact that led to the emergence of this study was that women produced their own lines and techniques in their work despite their status at that time. The absence of an independent Turkish work about the female painters we dealt within our study led us to do research on this subject. In our study, the effects of the Renaissance period on the emergence of women painters were examined. Accordingly, it was limited to the first four women painters due to their birth dates and steps to each other. It has been observed that Levina Teerlinc, Catherina Van Hemessen, Sofonisba Anguissola and Lavinia Fontana were the steps of each other by revealing their lives, their education, their strong lines in their paintings and how much difference between them.
