Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine Bodrum Tohum Association as a grass root organization from global food sovereignty movement perspective. Since food sovereignty is gaining importance in recent decade, the Social and Solidarity Economy structures have not been organized under one roof yet. Therefore, the study is aimed to contribute to the literature with a case study. With this aim the association’s founding purpose was asked primarily, then the activities of the association were examined. The model of the association has been created, thereby the question of how they contribute to the food sovereignty at the local bases revealed. Another motivation of the study is to identify the obstacles faced by the association and to propose policy recommendations to the new structures to be established. The major dynamics and contributions to the food sovereignty based on the founding motivation of the Bodrum Tohum Association, which has been determined to have a multi-stakeholder structure, have been evaluated through semi-structured face to face interviews with stakeholders as well as collected information. According to the interview results; it has been determined that Bodrum Seed Association supports five out of the seven titles in the Nyeleni Declaration. Therefore, it is possible to say that Turkey's Association is a structure that supports local and grassroots food sovereignty movement.
Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı; dünyada 90’lı yıllarda yükselen gıda egemenliği hareketinin Türkiye’ye olan yansımasını, yerelde örgütlenmiş bir grup olan Bodrum Tohum Derneği örneğinde incelemektedir. Türkiye’de gıda egemenliğinin incelendiği akademik çalışmalar oldukça yeni olmakla birlikte, gıda egemenliği hareketini destekleyen Sosyal ve Dayanışma Ekonomisi yapıları henüz bir çatı altında örgütlenmemişlerdir. Bu nedenle çalışmanın literatüre bir örnek olay incelemesi ile katkı sağlaması hedeflenmektedir. Bu amaçla ilk olarak derneğin kuruluş motivasyonunun ne olduğu sorusundan hareket edilmiş ve bu motivasyon ile sürdürülen faaliyetlerin kapsamının ne olduğu incelenmiştir. Böylelikle derneğin çalışma modeli oluşturularak gıda egemenliğine yerelde nasıl katkıda bulundukları ortaya konulmuştur. Çalışmanın bir diğer motivasyonu ise derneğin karşılaştıkları sorunların tespit edilerek, yeni kurulacak yapılara politika önerisi sunulmasıdır. Sosyal ve dayanışma ekonomisi yapılarından olan dernekler kapsamında, çok paydaşlı bir yapıya sahip olduğu tespit edilen Bodrum Tohum Derneği’nin temel dinamikleri ve yerelde gıda egemenliğine yaptıkları katkılar, toplanan derleme bilginin yanı sıra paydaşlar ile yüz yüze gerçekleştirilen yarı yapılandırılmış derinlemesine görüşmelerden elde edilmiştir. Görüşme sonucuna göre; Bodrum Tohum Derneği’nin Nyeleni Deklarasyonunda yer alan yedi başlığın beş tanesini desteklediği tespit edilmiştir. Bu nedenle Derneğin Türkiye’de yerelde ve tabandan yükselen gıda egemenliği hareketini destekleyen bir yapı olduğunu söylemek mümkündür.
