THE PROBLEMS OF SİİRT PROVINCE IN THE PERIOD OF 1960-1980

Abstract
In this study, the problems that Siirt province faced during the 1960-1980 period were examined. The problems in transportation and healthcare systems negatively affected the life in Siirt. Even in the summer months, the access to Şırnak district from the Siirt city center could only be possible by off-road vehicles. Regarding the healthcare issue, the deaths of children in Siirt province due to the doctor shortage showed that an urgent solution to the healthcare system was needed. Moreover, the political polarization that started to climb rapidly throughout the country in the 1970s also affected Siirt. The political violence that took place in Siirt were also brought to the agenda of the Turkish parliament.
Özet
Bu çalışmada, 1960-1980 dönemi Siirt ilinin sorunları incelenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmada ilk göze çarpan husus, bu tarihlerde Siirt’in birçok alanda çözüm bekleyen sorunlarının olduğudur. Ulaşımdaki yetersizlik, sağlık alanındaki sorunlar, bahsi geçen dönemde Siirt’teki yaşamı olumsuz etkilemiştir. Siirt’ten Şırnak ilçesine ulaşımın yaz aylarında bile ancak arazi araçlarıyla sağlanması mecliste dile getirilen ve çözümü aranan hususlardan birisi olmuştur. Sağlıkla ilgili olarak, doktor yetersizliği yüzünden Siirt ilinde meydana gelen çocuk ölümleri, acil çözüm bekleyen konular arasında yer almıştır. Ayrıca, 1970’lerden itibaren ülke genelinde hızlı tırmanmaya başlayan siyasi kutuplaşma ortamı, Siirt ilini de etkilemiştir. Bu anlamda Siirt’te meydana gelen olaylar, meclis gündemine taşınmış ve bu olaylar karşısında hükümetin aldığı tedbirler sorgulanmıştır.
