Occupational health and safety in health institutions: An investigation on risk assessment methods in public hospitals

Abstract

Occupational safety is as old as the human history. Occupational safety has become an increasingly important concept with human development and changing production models. Risk analysis is one of the basic elements of occupational safety. Considering the dangers and risks that may arise in the working environment, it is seen that health institutions and organizations are one of the most dangerous working areas. The Ministry of Health has started the process of dealing with the long-term risk management activities in a holistic manner with the system approach.In this study, risk assessment in health institutions was examined and new approaches to effective risk assessment were discussed. There is no proven risk assessment method for the determination of hazards and risk levels in health services. The study is important for people who work in the same environment and carry different risks. After in-depth literature review, observation and measurement were performed. In the results of working; A review of the appropriateness and effectiveness of the risk assessment methods that have recently been implemented in public hospitals has been concluded.

Özet

İş güvenliği insanlık tarihi kadar eski bir kavramdır. İş güvenliği insanlığın gelişmesi ile değişen üretim modelleri ile gittikçe önem kazanan bir kavram olmuştur. Risk analizi iş güvenliğinin temel unsurlarından birisidir. Sağlık çalışanlarında, çalışma ortamında karşılaşabilecekleri tehlikeler ve meydana gelecek riskler göz önüne alındığında sağlık kurum ve kuruluşlarının en tehlikeli çalışma alanlarından biri olduğu görülmektedir. Sağlık Bakanlığı uzun zamandır dağınık şekilde gerçekleştirilen risk yönetim faaliyetlerinin bütüncül bir şekilde sistem yaklaşımı ile ele alınma çalışmalarını 6331 sayılı İş Sağlığı ve Güvenliği Kanununun yayımı itibariyle başlamıştır.
