RETRACTED ARTICLE: The Relationship Between The Purpose of Using Social Network Sites and Communication Skills of Nursing Students

Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to determine relationship between purpose using of social networking sites and communication skills of nursing students.Methods: The population of the research was consisted of 421 students studying in the Department of Nursing of the Faculty of Health Sciences Faculty in 2016-2017 academic year. The sample consisted of 230 students whose universe was determined by using the known sample calculation formula (95% confidence interval, 5% error margin).The research data was collected through the Communication Skills Scale (CSS) and the Scale of Aims of Use of Social Network Site. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was .83. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was .92.SPSS 23.0 package program was used for statistical evaluation of the data. One-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and descriptive statistical methods were used in the evaluation of the data.Results: 47.8% of the students were between the ages of 20-22, 77% were women, 31.3% were in the 4th class and 26.1% were in the 3rd class. The mean score of the Social Networking Site Usage Scale of the students was 44.26 ± 10.40, The mean score of the Communication Skills Scale was 117.31 ± 17.77. It was found that there was a very weak correlation emotional communication subscale score of Communication Skills Scale and social interaction-communication score of Scale of Aims of Use of Social Network Sites subscale between students' (r =. 146). Conclusion: The communication skills of nursing students were found to be moderate and their social networking usage was above the intermediate level. However, there was no significant relationship between Communication Skills and Scale of Aims of Use of Social Network Sites.

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı hemşirelik öğrencilerinin sosyal ağ sitelerini kullanma amaçları ile iletişim becerileri arasındaki ilişkiyi tanımlamaktır.Yöntem: Çalışmanın evrenini bir üniversitenin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik bölümünde 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında kayıtlı 421 öğrenci, örneklemi ise evreni bilinen örneklem hesaplama formülü (%95 güven aralığı, %5 hata payı) kullanılarak belirlenen 230 öğrenci oluşturdu. Çalışmada İletişim Becerileri Ölçeği ve Sosyal Ağ Sitelerini Kullanma Amacı Ölçeği kullanıldı. Ölçeklerin sırasıyla Cronbach alfa geçerliliği .83 ve .92 olarak belirtilmiştir.Verilerin istatistiksel değerlendirmesinde SPSS 23.0 paket programı kullanıldı. İstatistiksel yöntem olarak tanımlayıcı istatistikler, One-Way Anova ve Pearson Korelasyon testleri yapıldı.Bulgular: Öğrencilerin %47.8’i 20-22 yaş grubunda, %77’si kız öğrenci, % 31.3’ü son sınıf ve % 26.1’i üçüncü sınıftadır. Öğrencilerin Sosyal Ağ Sitelerini Kullanım Ölçeği puan ortalamaları 44.26±10.40, İletişim Becerileri Ölçeği puan ortalamaları 117.31±17.77 olarak belirlendi. Öğrencilerin iletişim becerileri ölçeği duygusal iletişim alt boyut puanı ile sosyal ağ sitelerini kullanım ölçeği sosyal etkileşim-iletişim alt boyut puanı arasında pozitif yönde çok zayıf ilişki olduğu saptandı (r =.146). Sonuç: Hemşirelik öğrencilerin iletişim becerileri orta düzeyde, sosyal ağ kullanım durumları ise orta düzeyin üzerinde bulundu. Ancak İletişim Becerileri Ölçeği ve Sosyal Ağ Sitelerini Kullanım Ölçeği arasında anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmadı.
