Determination of Opinions of Nursing Students About Home Visits in The Scope of Public Health Nursing Course

Abstract
Objective: This study was carried out in order to determine the opinions of nursing students related to home visits made within the context of public health nursing course.Methods: This descriptive study was carried out on the senior students of one University Health Sciences Faculty Nursing Department between 30 May-15 June 2017. The universe of the research was composed of senior students (N = 109) of Health Sciences Faculty Nursing Department. Totally 109 students who accepted to participate were included in the study. The data were collected by the researchers in the direction of the literature with the "Questionnaire Form" which determined the opinions of the students about their socio-demographic characteristics and home visit. In terms of ethics, oral approval was obtained from students who participated in written permission and research and who were from the Faculty of Health Sciences. The data were evaluated using the descriptive statistics in the SPSS 20.0 package program. Results: Almost all of the nursing students in the study (92.7%) stated that visiting home contributes to their professional development. More than half of the nursing students (64.2%) stated that home visit contributed to the family. While 63.3% of the nursing students had a home visit, 37.6% had problems in any of the home visit stages, 45.9% had care during the home visit and 34.9% had problems in health education during the home visit. However, 70.6% of nursing students felt it was useful when visiting home. Conclusion: In the research, most of the nursing students think that home visit contributes to their professional development and families. However, nursing students stated that they had some problems while making home visits, applying home visit stages and doing care and health education during home visits. In line with these results; For the professional development of nursing students, it is recommended that home visits should be made within the scope of public health nursing course and supported by the instructors regarding the problems experienced by nursing students during the home visit.

Amaç: Bu çalışma halk sağlığı hemşireliği dersi kapsamında yapılan ev ziyaretleri ile ilişkili hemşirelik öğrencilerinin görüşlerini belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.Yöntem: Araştırma tanımlayıcı olarak 30 Mayıs-15 Haziran 2017 tarihleri arasında Bir Üniversitenin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik Bölümü son sınıf öğrencileri üzerinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Hemşirelik Bölümü son sınıf öğrencileri (N=109), örneklemi ise araştırmaya katılmayı kabul eden 109 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veriler araştırmacılar tarafından literatür doğrultusunda hazırlanan, öğrencilerin sosyo-demografik özellikleri ile ev ziyaretine ilişkin görüşlerini belirleyen “Anket Formu” ile toplanmıştır. Etik açıdan Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi Dekanlığından yazılı izin ve araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerden sözel onam alınmıştır. Veriler SPSS 20.0 paket programında tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir.Bulgular: Araştırma kapsamındaki hemşirelik öğrencilerinin çoğu (%92.7) ev ziyareti yapmanın mesleki gelişimine katkı sağladığını belirtmiştir. Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin yarıdan fazlası (%64.2) ev ziyaretinin aileye katkı sağladığını ifade etmiştir. Hemşirelik öğrencilerinin %63.3’ü ev ziyaretine çıkarken, %37.6’sı ev ziyareti aşamalarının herhangi birisinde, %45.9’u ev ziyaretinde bakım verirken ve %34.9’u ev ziyaretinde sağlık eğitimi yaparken sorun yaşadığını belirtmiştir. Bununla birlikte hemşirelik öğrencilerinin %70.6’sı ise ev ziyareti yaparken işe yaradığını hissetmiştir. Sonuç: Araştırmada hemşirelik öğrencilerinin çoğu ev ziyaretinin mesleki gelişimlerine ve ailelere katkı sağladığını düşünmektedir. Bununla birlikte öğrenci hemşireler ev ziyareti yaparken, ev ziyareti aşamalarını uygularken, ev ziyaretinde bakım ve sağlık eğitimi yaparken bazı sorunlar yaşadıklarını belirtmişlerdir. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda; hemşirelik öğrencilerinin mesleki gelişimi için halk sağlığı hemşireliği dersi kapsamında ev ziyareti yapılması gerektiği ve hemşirelik öğrencilerinin ev ziyaretinde yaşadığı sorunlara yönelik öğretim elemanları tarafından desteklenmesi önerilir.
