Perceptions of Graduate Students Towards The Use Of Technology In Scientific Studies

Özet

Üniversite enstitülerinde yüksek lisans ve doktora programlarında öğrenim gören öğrencilerle birlikte öğretim elemanlarının bir kısmı bilimsel çalışmalarında teknolojiyi aktif olarak kullanmadıkları ya da az kullandıkları görülmektedir. Çünkü elektronik kaynakların ne olduğu, nasıl kullanıldığı, bu kaynaklardan nasıl tarama yapılacağı, elde edilen sonuçları nasıl yönetileceği, araştırmada kullanılacak verilerin nasıl toplanacağı, bu verileri nasıl ve nerede analiz edileceği ve bunları nasıl bir araya getirerek raporlaştırılacağı hususunda bazı eksikliklerin olduğu araştırma makalelerinde görülmektedir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, “Akademik Araştırmalarda Teknoloji Kullanımı” dersini alan yüksek lisans öğrencilerinin bilimsel çalışmalarda teknoloji kullanımı ve teknoloji kullanımının öğretimine ilişkin algılarını belirlemektir. Araştırmanın verileri “açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan bir anket” vasıtasıyla toplanmış ve anketten elde edilen ham veriler “içerik analizi tekniği” kullanılarak analiz edilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma, nitel araştırma desenlerinden biri olan olgu bilim deseni olarak düzenlenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Necmettin Erbakan Üniversitesi Eğitim Bilimleri Enstitüsünde Bilgisayar ve Öğretim Teknolojileri Eğitimi Ana Bilim Dalında öğrenim gören 16 yüksek lisans öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre: dersi alan öğrenciler (literatür taraması, kaynakça takip uygulaması, veri analiz yöntemlerinin seçimi, veri analizi yöntemlerinin uygulanması ve raporlama) görevler üzerinden uygulanması ile ilgili “olumlu görüş” bildirmişlerdir; öğrenciler bilimsel çalışmalarda teknoloji kullanımına ilişkin durumu yüksek lisans programlarında yer alması gerektiğini ve bunun önemli olduğuna ilişkin görüş sunmuşlardır; bu dersten öğrendikleri ile teori ve pratiği bir arada yürüterek farklı deneyimler elde ettiklerini ifade etmişlerdir.

Abstract

It is seen that some of the faculty members along with the students studying in the graduate and doctoral programs in the university institutes do not use technology or use it less actively in their scientific studies. Because, there are some deficiencies in the research articles about what electronic sources are, how they are used, how to scan from these sources, how to manage the results obtained, how to collect the data to be used in the research, how and where to analyze these data and how to combine and report these data together. The main purpose of this study is to determine the perceptions of graduate students who take the Technology Use in Academic Research” course on the use of technology in scientific studies and the teaching of technology use. The data of the study were collected through a questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions and the raw data obtained from the survey were analyzed and interpreted using “content analysis technique”. The research was organized as a fact science design which is one of the qualitative research designs. The study group of the study consists of 16 graduate students studying at the Computer Education and Instructional Technologies Department of Necmettin Erbakan University Institute of Educational Sciences. According to the findings of the study: the students who took the course stated “positive opinion about the implementation of the tasks; the students stated that the situation related to the use of technology in scientific studies should be included in graduate programs and that this is important; they said that they had different experiences by running theory and practice together with what they learned from this course.
