THE PROBLEM OF ALCOHOLISM AMONG KYRGYZSTAN YOUTH

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the reasons of addiction to alcohol among youth in Kyrgyzstan. The survey was prepared for this research and applied to 170 people who are between 18-29 years old using snowball sampling in capital city Bishkek. The "Personal Information Form" which includes 11 questions was used to determine the frequency of alcohol use and the demographic characteristics of the people involved. Data from the study were analyzed using SPSS program. According to the results of the study, it was determined that the age of starting alcohol consumption among young people is gradually decreasing, and it was also determined that men and women are at the equal risk. It was found that the first alcohol experience of the young people took place under the direct influence of the family and friends, and the individuals who took alcohol in their family are more likely to normalize the use of alcohol. It has been determined that the main reason for young people to use alcohol is to be accepted by friends and, it was observed that the widespread detrimental situations at the time of being drank are arrests and injuries.

Özet

Kırgız gençlerini alkolizme sürükleyen sebepleri kapsamlı olarak ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla yapılan bu araştırma Kırgızistan’ın başkenti Bişkek’te kartopu örneklemesi yoluyla 18-29 yaş aralığındaki 170 kişi üzerinde anket uygulanarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmada alkol kullanım sıklığı ölçeği ile ilgili kişilerin demografik özelliklerini belirleyebilmek için 11 soruluk ’’Kişisel Bilgi Formu’’ kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler SPSS programında analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada gençler arasında alkol tüketiminin çok yaygın olduğu, alkole başlama yaşının gittikçe düştüğü ve erkekler ile kadınların aynı risk altında olduğu, gençlerin ilk alkol deneyiminin aile ve arkadaş çevresinin doğrudan etkisi altında gerçekleştiği, ailesinde alkol hikâyesi olan bireylerin alkolü normalleştirme eğiliminin daha yüksek olduğu, gençlerin alkol kullanmalarındaki başlıca nedenin arkadaş ortamında kabul görmek olduğu, sarhoşken yaşanan olumsuz durumların başında tutuklanma ve yaralanmanın geldiği belirlenmiştir.
