Time And Place in the Miscellany qnd Mathnawi of Burhâneddîn Balkhi

Abstract

This study consists of Muhammad Burhâneddîn Balkhi’s (1849-1930) life, his works and the date and place of writing mathnawi and euology in the miscellany mecca 1380. Burhâneddîn Balkhi emigrated with his family from the Kunduz town of Afghanistan in 1853 and came to Istanbul in 1861 where he spent the rest of his life. Belhî lived in the last century of the Ottoman Empire and was one of the leading poets of his time. Belhî, who was only engaged in poetry throughout his life, made his living by writing poems. Poet, who considers poetry as the food of the soul, has enlivened every assembly with poems. Instead of asking his friends on the street, he was known as “şâir-i seyyâr” because of his poetry reading. In addition, unlike the poets of the period, at the end of each poem he wrote, he has given explanatory information about the number of couplets in the poetry, the writing dates and places of poems.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, Muhammed Burhâneddîn-i Belhî’nin (1849-1930) hayatı, eserleri ve Süleymaniye Kütüphanesi Yazma Bağışlar 1380 numaralı mecmuada bulunan mesnevi ve kasidelerinin yazılış tarihi ve yeri incelemesine yer verilmiştir. Burhâneddîn-i Belhî, 1853 yılında ailesiyle birlikte Afganistan’ın Kunduz beldesinden göç ederek 1861 yılında İstanbul’a gelmiş ve hayatının geri kalanını burada geçirmiştir. Belhî, Osmanlı’nın son yüzyılında yaşamış ve devrinin önde gelen şairleri arasında yer almıştır. Hayatı boyunca yalnızca şiirle meşgul olan Belhî, geçimini de şiir yazarak temin etmiştir. Şiiri ruhun gıdası sayan şair, bulunduğu her meclisi şiirleriyle şenlendirmiştir. Sokakta karşılaştığı dostlarına hâl hatır sormak yerine şiir okuması sebebiyle “şâir-i seyyâr” lakabıyla anılmıştır. Ayrıca dönemin şairlerinden farklı olarak, kaleme aldığı her şiirin sonunda manzumede yer alan beyitlerin sayısına, şiirlerin yazılış tarihleri ve yerlerine dair açıklayıcı bilgiler vermiştir.
