THE FAMILY-TELEVISI0N RELATIONSHIP IN THE SOCIALIZATION OF CHILDREN

Abstract

In order to understand the socialization process of the child, it is essential to scrutinize the importance of the family-television relationship. One of the most ajjluent medium among the mass communication means is the television due to both its visual and auditory features. We are able to watch the events by means oftelevision, as they come into being. For this reason, children are influenced much more than adults from what they see on the TV. Children imitate some behaviours from both violent scenes and scenes concerning attitudes ofrole distribution on TV in their own way. As a result, they strive to behave in that way

çocuğun sosyalleşme sürecini anlayabilmek için, aile-televizyon ilişkisinin önemini irdelemek gerekir. Kitle İletişim Araçları içerisinde en etkili olanlardan birisi hiç kuşkusuz ki, hem görüntü özelliği hem işitsel özelliği ile televizyonlardır. Olayları çok kısa sürede evlerimizden televizyon sayesinde oluşurken izleyebiliyoruz. Bu sebepledir ki, özellikle de çocuklar televizyonlarda izlediklerinden yetişkinlere oranla daha çok etkilenmektedirler. Çocuklar, televizyonlarda izledikleri gerek şiddet sahnelerinden, gerekse rol dağılımına ait tutumlara ilişkin sahnelerden, kendilerince bazı davranışları alırlar. Bunun sonucunda öyle davranmaya çalışırlar.
