OSTRACODA CONTENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL INTERPRETATION OF EOCENE SEQUENCE IN BAĞLARCA (SW ELAZIĞ) REGION

Abstract
In this research, the ostracods fauna of the Kırkgeçit Formation, which is exposed over large area in the Bağlarca district SW of Elazığ.. The total thickness of 354m. from the measured sections which is representing Kırkgeçit Formation was collected 60 sedimentary samples. In this samples, 4 ostracoda genera and 3 ostracoda species of 60 sedimentary samples were described. The lithological properties and ostracods all indicate that this formation was deposited under deep marine conditions in the study area.
Özet
Bu araştırma, Bağlarca (Elazığ GB’sı) Köyü civarında yüzlek veren Kırkgeçit Formasyonu’na ait ostrakod faunasını kapsamaktadır. Kırkgeçit Formasyonu içerisinde toplam kalınlığı 354m olarak ölçülen kesitten 60 tortul kayaç örneği incelenmiştir. Bu örneklerde, Eosen’e ait ostrakodlardan 4 cins ve 3 tür tanımlanmıştır. Birimin litolojik özellikleri ile ostrakod faunasından yararlanılarak, inceleme alanındaki istifin derin deniz ortam koşullarında çökeldiği belirlenmiştir.
