The Classification of Math Questions of Central Examination for Secondary Education Institutions in Terms of PISA Mathematics Literacy Levels

Abstract
In this study it is aimed to classify the mathematics questions asked in the Central Examination for Secondary Education Institutions, which was started to be applied by the Ministry of National Education for the first time in 2018 and is applied in 2019, according to PISA mathematics proficiency levels. Since the math questions published in the question booklets of 2018 and 2019 will be classified according to the PISA mathematics proficiency scale, the document analysis technique, which is one of the qualitative research methods, is used and the questions are also analyzed according to the levels of PISA mathematics literacy published by the OECD. As a result of the classification made, it is seen that the questions asked in both years do not cover all of the PISA proficiency levels and are mainly concentrated at the 2nd level. It is observed that the 5th and 6th level questions are not included in 2018 exam, and only one question is asked in the 5th level in 2019 while the 6th level is not included.
Özet
Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de MEB tarafından 2018 yılında yapılmaya başlanan ve 2018-2019 yıllarında iki defa uygulanan Sınavla Öğrenci Alacak Ortaöğretim Kurumlarına İlişkin Merkezi Sınavda yer alan matematik sorularının, PISA matematik okuryazarlığı yeterlilik düzeyleri açısından sınıflandırılması amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışmada 2018 ve 2019 yılları soru kitapçıklarında yayınlanan matematik sorularının PISA matematik yeterlik ölçeğine göre sınıflandırılması yapılacağından nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman analizi tekniği kullanılmakta, OECD tarafından yayımlanan PISA matematik okuryazarlığı düzeylerine göre de analiz edilmektedir. Yapılan sınıflandırma sonucunda her iki yılda da sorulan soruların PISA yeterlik düzeylerinin hepsini kapsamadığı ve ağırlıklı olarak 2. düzeyde yoğunlaştığı görülmektedir. 2018 yılında üst düzey olan 5. ve 6. düzeyde sorulara yer verilmediği, 2019 yılında ise 5. düzeyde 1 soru sorulduğu 6. düzeyde soruya ise yer verilmediği görülmüştür.
