Tree Culture in Context of Active History Education: Plane Tree as Monumental Tree in Haluk Dursun’s Authorship

Abstract
Although social sciences is a concept that emerged in our recent history, it has arisen from the need to know oneself and the society in which one lives in order to know and realize oneself. History teaching has an important place in order to develop knowledge and experiences within the framework of the development of human and society.The aim of this study is to evaluate the importance of sycamore tree as a monumental tree in Turkish culture in order to teach Turkish history and culture effectively and to determine the sycamore motif in Haluk Dursun's works and to transfer these values to future generations. The research was conducted in 2019.The research was conducted through document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. Content analysis was used for data analysis. When the Turkish history is examined, it is revealed that the elements of nature and the tree are an important element in the life of the Turkish community depending on the lifestyle and beliefs of the Turks.In Turkish society, as a symbol of eternity and continuity, which is the symbol of eternity and continuity of trees, people and clan, holy trees are generally attributed to the singular trees in order to represent the one God and to reach Him instead of forest or tree communities.As a result of this value that is put on the tree in Turkish society and belief, it is important to identify the monumental trees that shed light on our history and culture in our cultural geography and to transfer them to the future. In this monumental tree, the plane tree stands out in terms of being a symbol of sovereignty for many years and acting as a bridge between past, present and future.In the context of the effective teaching of our history and culture to future generations, it should be ensured that generations learn this history and culture by seeing, feeling and having a conversation. As a result of this, determination of these values in our cultural geography, preservation and transfer to young generations is of great importance.
Özet
Sosyal Bilimler, yakın tarihimizde ortaya çıkan bir kavram olmakla birlikte insanın kendini gerçekleştirmesi adına kendisini ve yaşadığı toplumu tanıma ihtiyacından doğmuştur. İnsan ve toplumun gelişmesi çerçevesinde bilgi ve tecrübelerin geliştirilebilmesi için tarih öğretiminin önemli bir yeri vardır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Türk tarihinin etkin bir biçimde öğretilmesi açısından, Türk kültüründe bir anıt ağaç olarak çınar ağacının önemini ve Haluk Dursun’un eserlerinde çınar motifini tespit ederek, bu değerlerin gelecek nesillere aktarılmasını değerlendirmektir. Araştırma 2019 yılında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi yoluyla yapılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde içerik analizine başvurulmuştur. Türk tarihi incelendiğinde, Türklerin yaşam tarzı ve inanışlarına bağlı olarak doğa unsurlarının ve ağacın Türk toplum hayatında önemli bir öğe olduğu ortaya çıkmaktadır. Türk toplumunda ağaç, kişilerin ve boyun devamını sağlayan, sonsuzluğun, sürekliliğin bir sembolü olarak görülmüştür. Orman ya da ağaç toplulukları yerine, tek olan Tanrı’yı temsil etmesi ve O’na ulaşma vesilesi olması bakımından genellikle tekil ağaçlara kutsiyet atfedilmiştir. Türk toplumunda ve inanışında ağaca yüklenen bu değerin bir sonucu olarak, kültür coğrafyamızda bulunan tarihimize ve kültürümüze ışık tutacak anıt ağaçların tespiti ve geleceğe aktarılması önemlidir. Bu anıt ağaçlar içerisinde, uzun yıllar süren hâkimiyetin bir sembolü olması, geçmiş, bugün ve gelecek arasında bir köprü vazifesi görmesi bakımından çınar ağacı ön plana çıkmaktadır. Gelecek nesillerimize tarihimizin ve kültürümüzün etkin bir biçimde öğretimi bağlamında, nesillerin bu tarihi ve kültürü görerek, hissederek, muhabbetle öğrenmeleri sağlanmalıdır. Bunun bir sonucu olarak, kültür coğrafyamızda bulunan bu değerlerin belirlenmesi, korunması ve genç nesillere aktarılması büyük önem arz etmektedir.
