ADAPTATION OF THE ATTITUDE SCALE TOWARDS PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS TEACHING PROFESSION TO TURKISH: VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY

Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to translate and adapt the Attitude Towards Physical Education and Sports Teaching Profession Scale (ATPESTPS) by Fan et al. (2018) into Turkish and determine the validity and reliability of the scale. The study group consisted of 120 (60 males and 60 females) students studying at the Faculty of Sports Sciences. Ethical committee approval and institutional permission were acquired prior to the study. The subjects were participated into the study voluntarily by giving written consent. Cronbach Alpha value of the adapted scale was found to be 0.909. The internal consistency coefficients of the subdimension “Sense of Calling”, and “Value of Physical Education and Sports” ranged between .891-.370 and.798-.477, respectively. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed to test the factor structure obtained after exploratory factor analysis in order to reveal the factor structure of ATPESTPS. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis (X2/sd =1.441 and RMSEA=.61), it was found that the scale has a two-dimensional structure in its adapted form as it is in its original form. As a result, it can be told that the scale adapted into Turkish found to be valid and reliable to measure the attitudes of Turkish pre-service physical education and sports teachers’ towards the physical education and sports teaching profession.

Bu çalışmada, Fan, Keating, Liu, Zhou, Shangguan ve Knipe (2018) tarafından beden eğitimi öğretmen adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğine yönelik inançlarını ölçmeye yönelik olarak geliştirilmiş olan “Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenliği Mesleğine Yönelik İnanç Ölçeğinin (BESÖMİÖ)” Türkçe formunun oluşturularak bu ölçeğin geçerliğinin ve güvenirliğinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma grubu Hitit Üniversitesi Spor Bilimleri Fakültesinde öğrenim gören toplam n=120 (60 kadın ve 60 erkek) beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmeni adayından oluşturulmuştur. Çalışma için gerekli etik kurul ve kurum izinleri alınmıştır. Uyarlanan ölçeğin Cronbach Alpha değeri 0,909 bulunmuştur. Alt boyutlardan “Meslek Aşkı” boyutu iç tutarlık katsayıları 0,827-0,715 ve “Beden Eğitimi ve Sporun Değeri” boyutu için ise 0,818-0,496 arasında değişmektedir. BESÖMİÖ’nin faktör yapısını ortaya koymak amacıyla açıklayıcı faktör analizi sonrası elde edilen faktör yapısını test etmek ve yapının uygunluğuna karar vermek için doğrulayıcı faktör analizi yapılmıştır. Doğrulayıcı faktör analizi sonucunda X2/sd=1,441 ve RMSEA değerinin ise 0,61 olduğu görülmüştür. Yapılan bu analiz sonuçları Türkçe ölçeğinde özgün formunda olduğu gibi iki boyutlu bir yapıda olduğunu ortaya koymuştur. Yapılan bu çalışma sonucunda uyarlanan ölçeğin Türkiye’de beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenliği mesleğine yönelik inançların ölçülmesinde (belirlenmesinde) geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek olduğu söylenebilir.
