Public Religious Education in the Context of the Qur’an and the Sunna

Abstract

In order to achieve the desired goal of public religious education whichhas some purposes such as to inform Muslims about the faith, worship and moralprinciples of the Islamic religion that is the origin of the Qur’an and the Sunna,to help their interpretations of the religious dimension of life by developing theirreligious understanding, providing guidance and religious counsel to Muslimson religious and moral issues, applying a proper method of the Qur’an and theSunnah is imperative. In order to reach this goal, analyzing of the revelation andeducation activities of Prophet Muhammad’s twenty-three year prophets in theMecca and Medina period is extremely important. Therefore, the revelation andeducation activities of Prophet Muhammad who is the prophet and the chiefeducator of the Islamic religion, and also the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad’seducational methods are need to be well known and practiced by religiouseducators who are interested in today’s public religious education.In this study, we will try to study how to transmit the teaching and lerningactivties and methods of the Quran and the religion education of the ProphetMuhammed in Mecca and the Medina period.
