Abstract
ABSTRACT: Congenital diaphragmatic hernia is hereditary anomalies resulting from defects in the diaphragm. Abdominal structures herniate into the thoracic cavity due to congenital defect in the diaphragm. For accurate diagnosis, the presence of bowel loops in the thorax is decisive on the chest radiograph. Diaphragmatic hernias may develop from esophageal hiatus (hiatal), paraesophageal, retrosternal (Morgagni) or posterolateral (Bochdalek) regions. In this case report, the diagnosis and surgical procedure of a Down syndrome-newborn baby with right Bochdalek hernia was discussed by comparison of the literature.
