Investigation of Nursing Students' Perception of Social Support in the Adaptation Process of University Life

Abstract
Aim: This study was conducted to determine the perceptions of nursing students' social support in their adaptation to university life. Method: The research was conducted with 630 students who were studying at a Faculty of Health Sciences in the 2018-2019 fall semester and accepted to participate in the study. Results: More than half of the nursing students included in the study were female students (76.7%) and the age range 20-22 (64.6%), almost all of them had health insurance (90.3%), more than half of them were in dormitories (57.3%) and not working (87.0%).When the characteristics of the students regarding the department they study are examined; More than half of them are partially satisfied with the school life (64.1%) and willingly preferred nursing (73.8%), almost half of the students have no problem finding a job (39.0%), the ideal and the profession of interest (37.1%).In the analysis made; There was a significant difference between the satisfaction level of nursing students with school life and the levels of MAS and its sub-dimensions, MSPSS, and its sub-dimensions (p
Özet
Giriş: Bu araştırma, hemşirelik öğrencilerinin üniversite yaşamına uyum sürecinde sosyal destek algılarını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Yöntem: Araştırma, bir üniversitenin Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi’nde kayıtlı olan 630 hemşirelik öğrencisi ile yürütülmüştür. Bulgular: Araştırma kapsamına alınan hemşirelik öğrencilerinin yarıdan fazlasının kız öğrencilerden (%76.7) ve 20-22 yaş aralığından (%64.6) oluştuğu, tamamına yakınının sağlık güvencesinin olduğu (%90.3), yarıdan fazlasının yurtta (%57.3) kaldığı ve çalışmadığı (%87.0) bulunmuştur. Öğrencilerin okudukları bölüme ilişkin özellikleri incelendiğinde; yarıdan fazlasının okul yaşamından kısmen memnun olduğu (%64.1) ve hemşireliği isteyerek tercih ettiği (%73.8), öğrencilerin tercih sebepleri olarak yarısına yakını iş bulma sorunu olmaması (%39.0), idealdeki ve ilgi duyulan meslek olması (%37.1) olarak belirlenmiştir. Yapılan analizlerde; hemşirelik öğrencilerinin okul yaşamından memnuniyet durumları ile ÜYÖ ve alt boyutları, ÇBASDÖ ve alt boyutları arasında anlamlı bir fark saptanmıştır (p
