Investigation of Relationship Between Perceived Parental Attitudes and Success Motivation in Young Football Players

Futbol Altyapı Sporcularında Algılanan Ebeveyn Tutumları ile Başarı Motivasyonu Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

In this research, the relationship between success motivations of young football players and parentalattitudes they perceived are examined. The infrastructure athletes of three major sports clubs in theprovince of Istanbul have been identified as the sample for examining the relationship between successmotivations of football players and parental attitudes they perceive. The Parent Attitude Scale and Sports-Specific Achievement Motivation Scale were applied to 303 young football players for his research. Theresults of the research are very valuable and significant results. There is a positive and moderate correlationbetween Parents’ Attitude and Sport Motivation (0,412). Parents’ Attitudes are in a positive but low-severityrelationship with the sub-dimensions of the Sports-Specific Achievement Motivation. Sports-specificachievement motivation is not in a statistically significant relationship with the democratic attitude while itis in a positive relationship with the sub-dimensions of the protective-requester attitude and authoritarianattitude. According to the results of the research, the attitudes of the parents were effective on the sportmotivation of the child. While protective and authoritarian parental attitudes negatively affect the child’ssport motivation, democratic parental attitudes positively affect the child. Childrens who grow up ina democratic environment do not escape inefficacy. At that time, for the raising healthy and advencedindividuals parents should raise should raise their children in a structure that gives children the right tospeak, gives importance to the choices, needs and expectations of the child and gives responsibility to thechild.

Özet

Bu araştırmayla, futbol oynayan altyapı sporcularının başarı motivasyonları ile algıladıkları ebeveyntutumları arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Futbol oynayan altyapı sporcularının başarı motivasyonları ilealgıladıkları ebeveyn tutumları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi için İstanbul ilinde bulunan üç büyükspor kulübünün altyapı sporcuları örneklem olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada kullanılan Anne BabaTutum Ölçeği ve Spora Özgü Başarı Motivasyonu Ölçeği 303 altyapı sporcusuna uygulanmıştır. Araştırmasonucunda elde edilen bulgular oldukça kıymetli ve kayda değer sonuçlar üreten bilgilerdir. Olgulardahilinde Anne Baba Tutumu ile Spora Özgü Başarı Motivasyonu arasında pozitif yönlü ve orta şiddetlibir ilişkinin olduğu görülmektedir (0,412). Anne Baba Tutumları, Spora Özgü Başarı Motivasyonunun altboyutları ile pozitif yönlü ancak düşük şiddetli bir ilişki yapısı içindedir. Spora özgü başarı motivasyonuise koruyucu istekçi tutum ve otoriter tutum alt boyutları ile orta şiddetli pozitif yönlü bir ilişki içindeykendemokratik tutum ile istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki içinde değildir. Araştırmanın tüm bulgularınagöre denilebilir ki; anne babaların tutumları çocuğun spor motivasyonunda etkilidir. Koruyucu ve otoriterebeveyn tutumları çocuğun spor motivasyonunu olumsuz etkilerken demokratik anne baba tutumuçocuğu olumlu etkilemektedir. Demokratik ortamda yetişen çocuklar başarısızlıktan kaçmamaktadır. Ohalde anne babaların sağlıklı gelişmiş bireyler yetiştirebilmeleri için çocuğa söz hakkı tanıyan, çocuğunseçimlerini, ihtiyaç ve beklentilerini önemseyen ve çocuğa sorumluluk veren bir yapı içerisinde çocuklarınıbüyütmelidirler.
