The Effect of Foreing Direct Investment on the Unemployment in Turkey: A Bounds Testing Approach

Abstract
In this survey, the effect of foreign direct investment (FDI) on the unemployment in Turkey has been studied by a bounds testing approach using the data between 2000:Q1–2009:Q4. According to empirical findings of the survey, in the long term the effect of FDI on unemployment is not statistically significant. In the short term analysis although FDI increase unemployment in the current period, evidence is found to decrease after two periods

Bu çalışmada, yabancı doğrudan yatırımların (YDY) Türkiye’de işsizlik üzerindeki etkisi, 2000:Q1–2009:Q4 dönemi verileri kullanılarak; sınır testi yaklaşımıyla araştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın ampirik bulgularına göre, uzun dönemde YDY ile işsizlik arasında istatistiki açıdan anlamlı bir ilişki çıkmamıştır. Kısa dönem analizinde ise, YDY’nin işsizliği, cari dönemde arttırmasına rağmen, iki dönem sonra azalttığı bulgusu tespit edilmiştir
