Examining of Preservice Teachers' Performance Preparing Lesson Plan

Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the preservice teacher' skills using teaching principles and methods. The Mixed method, which includes the Quantitative and Qualitative Dimensions, was employed. The Study Group consisted of the 224 students at a Foundation University in the 2016-2017 Academic Year. According to the results of the research, the performances of the preservice teachers in preparing the lesson plans for teaching principles and methods are medium level. The performance averages of evaluation were determined to be at low level. It was observed that the students with low performance values made more mistakes in using the teaching strategy and method concepts instead of each other; and could not explain the learning approach in their lesson plans by giving examples. It was also observed that these students acquired the concepts about teaching Principles and Methods only at knowledge level; and they had difficulties in the applications related to the use of the concepts.
Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı öğretmen adaylarının öğretim ilke ve yöntemlerini kullanma becerilerini incelemektir. Nitel ve nicel boyutları içeren karma model kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında bir vakıf üniversitesindeki 224 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre öğretmen adaylarının öğretim ilke ve yöntemlerine yönelik ders planı hazırlamadaki performansları orta seviyededir. Değerlendirme etkinliklerini hazırlama konusunda ise düşük performans göstermişledir. Öğrencilerin ölçme değerlendirme etkinlikleri hazırlamada “düşük” seviyededirler. Düşük performans gösteren öğrencilerin diğer gruplara göre öğretim ilke ve yöntemleri ile ilgili daha fazla hata yaptıkları, öğrenme yaklaşımlarını örneklendiremedikleri ve açıklayamadıkları görülmüştür. Öğretim ilke ve yöntemlerine ilişkin kavramları bilgi düzeyinde edindikleri, kavramların kullanımına ilişkin uygulamalarda zorlandıkları görülmüştür.
