Debonding Methods in Orthodontic

Abstract
The process of removal of the braces and the adhesive resin from the tooth surface by termination of the active period of the fixed orthodontic treatment is called debonding. The purpose of the debonding process is to remove the fixed attachments, to clean the residual adhesive on the tooth surface, and to bring the tooth surface to the pre-bonding state without iatrogenic damage. There are four methods for removing orthodontic attachments. These methods include; mechanical debonding, electrothermal debonding, ultrasonic debonding, laser debonding. After debonding, a number of cleaning methods such as hand tools, sanding discs, rubber burs, diamond burs and tungsten carbide burs are used to clean the resin. Care must be taken during debonding procedures because problems such as pulp necrosis, enamel damage, coloration on the tooth surface and tenderness can occur. During cleaning of the tooth surface, aerosols, dusts are formed and they cause danger due to cross-infection. Therefore in our review we aimed to evaluate the differences between the different debonding procedures.

Sabit ortodontik tedavinin aktif döneminin bitirilmesiyle braketlerin ve adeziv rezinin diş yüzeyinden uzaklaştırılması işlemine debonding adı verilmektedir. Debonding işleminin amaçları sabit ataşmanların çıkarılması, diş yüzeyinde kalan artık adezivin temizlenmesi ve diş yüzeyinin yapıştırma öncesi haline iyatrojenik zarar vermeden getirilmesidir. Ortodontik ataşmanların sökülmesi için kullanılan dört yöntem vardır. Bu yöntemler; mekanik debonding, elektrotermal debonding, ultrasonik debonding, lazer debonding’dir. Debonding sonrası artık rezinin temizlenmesi için el aletleri, zımpara diskler, lastik frezler, elmas frezler ve tungsten karbid frezler gibi çok sayıda temizleme yöntemi kullanılmaktadır. Debonding işlemi boyunca oldukça dikkatli olunmadır aksi halde pulpa nekrozu, mine hasarı, diş yüzeyinde renklenme ve hassasiyet gibi problemler ortaya çıkabilmektedir. Diş yüzeyinin temizlenmesi esnasında aerosoller, tozlar oluşmaktadır ve bunlar çapraz enfeksiyona neden olabilmeleri nedeni ile tehlike arz etmektedir. Bundan dolayı hazırlamış olduğumuz bu derlemede debonding yöntemleri arasındaki farkı inceledik.
