Culture-Spesific Approaches for Baby Care of 15-49 Years Old Mothers in The Postpartum Period Living in Batman

Abstract
This study was conducted as a descriptive study in order to determine the traditional practices of mothers with infants aged 0-12 months. 200 mothers who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study. The questionnaire was filled in by face-to-face interviews with mothers who applied to Batman Maternity and Children Hospital between June 2018 and January 2019. The questionnaire consisted of a total of 29 questions. Number and percentage values were used in the statistical analysis of the data. As a result of the research; 53.5% of the mothers stated that they did not have any traditional treatment to prevent their jaundice, 67% of the mothers had yellow cheesecloth covers on their babies, 37.5% of them had to be salted and 64.5% of them had a special application. 48.6% of them reported that they were shearing, 61.5% of them applied any kind of protection to prevent evil eye, and 54.5% of them said they read prayer. 61% of the participants stated that they had swaddled their baby, 34.5% said that they made a traditional application for the baby to be beautiful and 55.1% of them squeezed their cheeks to get dimples, 21.7% said they cleaned their face with breast milk.
Özet
Bu araştırma 0–12 aylık bebeği olan annelerin çocuk bakımına ilişkin başvurdukları geleneksel uygulamaları saptamak amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak yapılmıştır. Araştırmaya gönüllü olarak ka-tılmayı kabul eden 200 anne alınmıştır. Anket formu Haziran 2018 - Ocak 2019 tarihleri arasın-da Batman Doğum ve Çocuk Hastanesine başvuran annelerle yüz yüze görüşülerek doldurul-muştur. Anket formu toplam 29 sorudan oluşmaktadır. Verilerin istatistiksel analizinde sayı, yüzdelik değerler kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda; annelerin %53.5’i bebeklerinin sarılık olmaması için herhangi bir geleneksel uygulamada bulunduklarını, geleneksel uygulama yapan-ların %67’si bebeklerin üzerine sarı tülbent örtüklerini, %37.5’i bebeğin tuzlanması gerektiğini, %64.5’i bebeğin kırkı çıktığında özel bir uygulama yaptıklarını, bunların %48.6’sı kırklama yaptıklarını, %61.5’i nazardan korumak için herhangi bir uygulama yaptığını, bunların %54.5’i dua okuduklarını belirtmişlerdir. Katılımcıların %61’i bebeğini kundakladıklarını, %34.5’i ise bebeğin güzel olması için geleneksel bir uygulama yaptıklarını ve bunların %55.1’i gamzesi ol-sun diye yanağını sıktığını, % 21.7’si anne sütü ile yüzünü temizlediğini söylemişlerdir.
