A REVIEW OF THE MONORITMICA OF ILHAN USMANBAS’ COMPOSITION

Abstract
In this study, the life of İlhan Usmanbaş, one of the secondgeneration Turkish composers, his process of creation, and his clarinet works were discussed. In this study, his work titled Monoritmica was examined, and the study was aimed to be a source for clarinet students and performers. Usmanbaş has always addressed music with the attention of a scientist and researched the natural structure of sound and the sound characteristics of instruments. In the review section of the study, the work titled Monoritmica, one of the important works of İlhan Usmanbaş, which was written in 1980 with the request of the HET Netherlands Clarinet Quartet and which contributed greatly to the not-so-wide clarinet repertoire, was divided into sections and examined. Monoritmica, which lives up to its name, attracts attention with its rhythm structure and lack of barlines. Written in the transmission for three B-flat clarinet and one B-flat bass-clarinet, the work was composed during the period in which the composer’s creative life could be described as a personal synthesis. As a result of this study, we see how important a composer İlhan Usmanbaş, our second-generation composer of the Republican era, is in terms of the innovations he has brought and the works he has composed for the clarinet.
Özet
Bu araştırmada ikinci kuşak Türk bestecilerinden İlhan Usmanbaş’ın hayatı, yaratım süreci, klarnet eserlerine değinilmiş ve monoritmica eseri incelenerek klarnet öğrencilerine, icracılara kaynak olması amaçlanmıştır. Usmanbaş müziğe her zaman bir bilim adamı titizliği ile eğilmiş, sesin doğal yapısını, çalgıların tını özelliklerini araştırmıştır. Araştırmanın inceleme kısmında, 1980 yılında, HET Hollanda Klarnet Dörtlüsü siparişi üzerine yazılmış, çok geniş olmayan klarnet repertuvarına büyük katkısı olan İlhan Usmanbaş’ın önemli eserlerinden biri olan monoritmica eseri kesitlere ayrılarak incelenmiştir. Adı ile bağdaşmış olan Monoritmica, ritim yapısı ve ölçü çizgilerinin olmayışı ile dikkat çekmektedir. 3 Si bemol klarnet ve 1 Si bemol bas-klarnet için aktarımlı olarak yazılmış olan eser bestecinin yaratıcılık hayatının kişisel sentez olarak nitelendirilebilecek olan döneminde bestelenmiştir. Bu araştırmanın sonucu olarak; Cumhuriyet dönemi ikinci kuşak bestecimiz İlhan Usmanbaş, getirdiği yenilikler ve klarnet için bestelediği yapıtlar açısından ne kadar önemli bir besteci olduğunu görmekteyiz.
