The meaning of addressing the “read /iqra” to an illiterate prophet

Abstract
The aim of this article is to investigate the addressing as “read” to the Prophet who is ummi (illiterate). In our study, we tried to explain which possible meanings of this addressing as read are being carried and which of them have to be considered. This also has revealed all the subtleties of Quranic Arabic Language and the richness of the meanings in the utterances of the Quran.
Özet
Bu makalenin amacı, ümmî bir Peygambere yöneltilen “oku” hitabının incelenmesidir. Çalışmamızda Peygamberimize yöneltilen “oku” hitabının hangi ihtimalleri taşıdığı ve hangileri üzerinde durulması gerektiği hususları açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu da Kur’an’ın Arap dilindeki bütün inceliklerini ve lafızlardaki mana zenginliğini ortaya koymuştur.
