HISTORIES ON 18TH CENTURY EVENTS

Abstract

Writing a poem dedicated to a historic event (histories) has an important place in Ottoman culture. Many events such as war, peace, birth, death, building or restorating historical monuments, years of writing or printing of precious books, appointments and dismissals have been calculated and expressed in poetry as a "year" with a method called “Ebced”. These are under the heading of "histories" in most of the "divans" where the poets of the Divan poets gather their poems and are important materials for the history and literature of the era they belong to. In the Divan literature, 18th century is considered as "poem and poetry century". Because this century is the largest and richest period of classical literature in terms of the poet's staff. The birth of 1322 poets in this century also makes this fact clear. In this article we tried to give examples from the “histories” of 18th century Divan poets.

Özet

Tarih düşmek Osmanlı kültüründe önemli bir yer tutar. Savaş, barış, doğum, ölüm, tarihî eserlerin yapımı veya onarımı, kıymetli kitapların yazım veya basım yılı, atama, görevden alma, sürgün gibi pek çok olay “Ebced Hesabı” denilen bir usûl ile “yıl olarak” hesaplanıp şiirle ifade edilmiştir. Bunlar Divan şairlerinin şiirlerini topladıkları “divan”ların çoğunda “tarihler” başlığı altında yer alır ve ait oldukları devrin tarihi ve edebiyatı için de önemli malzemelerdir. Divan edebiyatında 18. asır “şiir ve şâir asrı” sayılır. Çünkü bu asır, şâir kadrosu bakımından klâsik edebiyatın en geniş ve zengin dönemidir. Bu asırda 1322 şairin yetişmesi de bu gerçeği açıkça ortaya koymaktadır. Bu makalede 18. asır Divan şairlerinin düştükleri tarihlerden örnekler vermeye çalıştık.
