Soviet Terms Derived From The Civil War Period And Common Foreign Words

Abstract
In this study, the Soviet terms introduced by the new administration in the Civil War process after the October Revolution, the most commonly used words in Russian in that period that entered Russian from foreign languages, are examined. Following the Civil War, the Bolsheviks, who had to rebuild a country which had been destroyed both in material and spiritual terms and whose ties had broken up with all its institutions and organizations, needs new terms, up-to-date qualifications for concepts that they defined in different ways by means of new ideology’s perspective, names of institutions and organizations in this reconstruction process. In the study named “Dictionary of Soviet Terms and the Most Common Foreign Words” which was written by Pavel Hrisanfovich Spasski in 1924, after the establishment of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), the words and terms that were needed and started to be used during the Civil War period and the subsequent construction process, words from foreign languages are introduced. In this study, the reflections of the Civil War on language and the new words in the mentioned dictionary are examined. As a result of the evaluations, it can be expressed that a significant part of the new Soviet preferred words and terms were prepared within the scope of the program of reconstruction of Russia and in an effort to place socialist ideology in society.

Bu çalışmada Ekim Devrimi’nden sonra yaşanan İç Savaş sürecinde yeni yönetim tarafından kullanıma sokulan Sovyet terimleri, o dönemde Rusçada en sık kullanılan ve yabancı dillerden Rusçaya giren kelimeler mercek altına alınmaktadır. İç Savaş’ın ardından hem maddi hem de manevi anlamda yıkıma uğramış ve bütün bağları kopma noktasına gelmiş bir ülkeyi tüm kurum ve kuruluşlarıyla tekrar inşa etmek zorunda olan Bolşevikler, bunu gerçekleştirirken de yeni terimlere, kurum ve kuruluş adlarına, yeni ideolojinin bakış açısıyla farklı şekillerde tanımladıkları kavramlara yönelik olarak güncel nitelemelere ihtiyaç duyar. P. H. Spasski’nin Sovyet Sosyalist Cumhuriyetler Birliği (SSCB)’nin kurulmasından sonra, 1924 yılında kaleme aldığı “Sovyet Terimleri Sözlüğü ve En Sık Kullanılan Yabancı Kelimeler” isimli eserinde, İç Savaş dönemi ve akabindeki inşa sürecinde ihtiyaç duyulan ve kullanılmaya başlayan kelimeler, terimler ve yabancı dillerden Rusçaya giren kelimeler tanıtılmaktadır. Çalışmamızda, İç Savaş’ın dile yönelik yansımaları ve bahsi geçen sözlükteki yeni kelimeler incelenmektedir. Değerlendirmeler neticesinde, Sovyetlerce tercih edilen yeni kelime ve terimlerin önemli bir kısmının, Rusya’yı yeniden inşa programı kapsamında ve topluma sosyalist ideolojiyi yerleştirme çabası doğrultusunda hazırlandığı ifade edilebilir.
