Abstract
Changing aspects of social life and new economic systems have affected public socialization and recreation concepts. Personal recreation activities have changed towards taking on a more consumptional route. Contemporary shopping centers are the new spatial reflections of these new recreational forms. This study aims to analyze the recreational spaces in shopping centers and to bring forth some design proposals for the further studies.

Değişen toplumsal yapı, sosyal yaşam ve yeni ekonomik sistemlerin de etkisiyle bireylerin sosyalleşme ve rekreasyon kavramları da değişime uğramıştır. Bireylerin rekreasyon biçimleri tüketimi esas alan aktivitelere dönüşmüştür. Bu toplumsal olgunun, mekansal karşılığı da alışveriş merkezleri olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışma, çağdaş alışveriş merkezlerindeki rekreasyonel unsurları mekansal olarak incelemeyi ve bunlarla ilgili iç mekan tasarım önerileri getirmeyi amaçlamaktadır.
