Özet
Araştırma, mesleki müzik eğitimi alan ve almayan lise öğrencilerinin benlik kavramlarını belirlemek ve ana dala ayrılan günlük çalışma süresi açısından benlik kavramının farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığını tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 2004-2005 öğretim yılında Avni Akyol Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi, Özel Anadolu Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi, İstanbul Üniversitesi Devlet Konservatuvarı, Kadıköy Lisesi, Pendik Lisesi, Kartal Özel Ortadoğu Koleji ve Kartal Yakacık Lisesi’nde öğrenim gören lise hazırlık,1.,2.,3.sınıflarından 121 mesleki müzik eğitimi, 329 genel lise öğrencisi olmak üzere toplam 450 (244 kız, 206 erkek) öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak, lise öğrencilerinin benlik kavramlarını ölçmek üzere Piers-Harris’in Çocuklarda Öz-Kavramı Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre, konservatuvar öğrencileri, genel lise ve Anadolu Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi öğrencilerine göre daha olumlu benlik kavramına sahiptirler ve müzik çalışmalarına günde 3 saatten fazla zaman ayıran öğrencilerin, az zaman ayıranlara göre daha olumlu bir benlik kavramına sahip oldukları görülmektedir.
Abstract
The objective of this study is to determine the self-concept of the high schoolstudents having taken academic music education and those who have not. It is alsoinvestigated the differences of self concept of academic music students regarding to time that they have been spending for practicing music. The data was gathered from 450students, 121 of whom are taking academic music education and 329 of whom are generalhigh school students, from different schools including Anatolian Fine Arts High School,Private Anatolian Fine Arts High School, İstanbul University State Conservatory,Kadıköy High School, Pendik High School, Private Ortadoğu High School, and YakacıkHigh School. In this study, Piers-Harris self-concept scale was used to get data. Theresults indicated that the students who have been attending İstanbul University StateConservatory have more positive self concept than the other students attending fine artsand general high schools. The student who have been practicing music (their mainbranches such as practicing their instruments or singing) more than three hours in a dayhave more positive self concept than the students practicing music less than three hours aday. In summarize the results showed that music education has a major impact on thedevelopment of positive self concept.Key words: Self concept, music education
