Abstract

Carbon monoxide is the reason for about half of fatal poisoning cases around the world. Carbon monoxide causes toxicity at the cellular level and the impedance in oxygen delivery to the tissues results in the effects of poisoning. There is no definitive information about a relationship between the level of carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) and clinical manifestations. However, an increase in the level of COHb increases the risk of mortality and morbidity. In this article, we will investigate the follow-up of a patient who presented to the emergency service with a 65% COHb level, in order to review the relationship between the level of carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) and clinical manifestations
