Battle of Gallipoli from the point of view of an American journalist

Abstract

One of the most important battles of the Turkish history, Battle of Gallipoli aroused interest from all over the World. With the permission of Ottoman Goverment lots of journalists went to the war zone to observe the war. Granville Fortescue was one of them. He started working as a journalist after leaving the army. During the war he went to Gallipoli and made many observations and also took lots of notes. When he get back to London he wrote a book based on his observations and notes.

Özet

Türk tarihinin en önemli zaferlerinden biri olan Çanakkale Savaşları bütün dünyanın ilgisini çekmiştir. Cephede neler olduğunu yerinde görüp öğrenebilmek için bir çok gazeteci Osmanlı Devleti‘nin izniyle savaş bölgesine gitmiştir. Bunlardan birisi de Amerikalı Granville Fortescue‘dur. Askerlikten ayrılarak gazetecilik yapmaya başlayan Fortescue, savaş bölgesine giderek savaşı yerinde izlemiş, birçok not tutmuş ve gözlemlerde bulunmuştur. Tuttuğu bu notları ve gözlemlerini daha savaş bitmeden İngiltere‘de kitap haline getirmiştir.
