The Examination of Their Leadership Orientations According to Character Traits of Athletes

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between athletes' leadership orientation and character traits. In the study, the descriptive screening model was used. The research universe consists of athlete students studying in sports higher education institutions in the 2021-2022 academic year. 345 athlete students studying at Ordu, Giresun, Amasya, Sinop and Gümüşhane Universities were identified as sample groups by random sampling method. The personal information form, leadership orientation scale and sports character scale were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed with independent samples T-test, one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) and Tukey multiple comparison tests. In addition, the relationships between leadership orientation scale and sports character scale scores were examined by Pearson correlation coefficient. It was not determined a significant difference in leadership orientation and sports character scale scores according to age, sports age, family income level and father education status (p>0.05). Bu araştırmanın amacı, sporcuların liderlik yönelimleri ile karakter özellikleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmada betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırma evreni, 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında spor yükseköğrenim kurumlarında öğrenim gören sporcu öğrencilerden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada Ordu, Giresun, Amasya, Sinop ve Gümüşhane Üniversitelerinde öğrenim gören 345 sporcu öğrenci tesadüfi örneklem yöntemi ile örneklem grubu olarak belirlendi. Kişisel bilgi formu, liderlik yönelim ölçeği ve spor karakter ölçeği veri toplama araçları olarak kullanıldı. Veriler, ilişkisiz örneklemler için T-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve Tukey çoklu karşılaştırma testleri ile analiz edildi. Ayrıca, Pearson korelasyon katsayısı ile liderlik yönelim ölçeği ve spor karakter ölçeği puanları arasındaki ilişkiler incelendi.
