Financial Performance Analysis of Insurance Companies Operating In Turkey: 2006-2015

Türkiye’de Faaliyette Bulunan Sigorta Şirketlerinin Finansal Performans Analizi: 2006-2015

Abstract

By force of an industrialized country, economic units demand assurances in the face of unexpected situations they may encounter during private and business life. In addition to fulfilling this demand, the insurance sector contributes to capital development and economic growth by distributing the funds it provides back to the economic units. The performance analysis of the insurance companies that are the subjects of our work was tried to be explained with the help of Tobin's Q representing the company's value and the financial ratios of the insurance sector. The data of sample companies selected from listed companies in Borsa Istanbul Co. were obtained from internet sites of KAP and BİST and panel data set was created and the results were interpreted.

Özet

Sanayileşmiş bir ülkenin gereği olarak ekonomik üniteler özel ve iş hayatları sırasında karşılaşabilecekleri beklenmedik durumlar karşısında güvence talep etmektedirler. Sigortacılık sektörü bu talebi yerine getirmesinin yanı sıra sağladığı fonları yeniden ekonomik birimlere dağıtarak sermaye gelişimine ve ekonomik büyümeye katkıda bulunmaktadır. Çalışmamızın konusu olan sigorta şirketlerinin performans analizi, firma değerini temsil eden Tobin’s Q ve sigorta sektörüne özgü finansal rasyolar ile açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Borsa İstanbul A.Ş.’ye kayıtlı şirketler arasından seçilen örneklem şirketlerin verileri KAP ve BİST’in internet sitelerinden elde edilmiş ve panel veri seti oluşturularak çıkan sonuçlar yorumlanmıştır.
