The Implementation of Structural Equation Model for Economic Freedom to Affect the Entrepreneurship Dimension

Abstract

Purpose - It is to measure the sensitivity values of the factors affecting the economic freedom'sentrepreneurship, the values of the factors contributing to the relational structure in the effect ofeconomic freedom on entrepreneurship and the effect of economic freedom on the entrepreneurshipdimension. Design/methodology/approach - For 2019, the effect of the economic freedom dimension on theentrepreneurship dimension was measured by structural equation modeling based on the values ofthe factors that constitute the Economic Freedom Index and the Global Entrepreneurship Index for115 countries. Findings - In the research, it was concluded that economic freedom affects or providesentrepreneurship in a significant, positive and very high level. In the continuation of the research, itwas determined that the most sensitive and most contributing factor to the relational structure ofthe economic freedom dimension is the rule of law in terms of economic freedom andentrepreneurial skills in terms of entrepreneurship dimension. In addition, it has been determinedthat the goverment size factor contributes the least to the relational structure towards the effect ofeconomic freedom on the entrepreneurship dimension. It has been found that entrepreneurshipcontributes more to the relational structure between economic freedom and entrepreneurshipdimensions than economic freedom. Discussion – With the structuring of economic freedom activities on a legal basis and the morepronounced entrepreneurial capabilities, economic freedom plays a more functional role in theformation of entrepreneurship in the global sense. In the framework of the limited state factoraffecting entrepreneurship less within the scope of economic freedom, it has been evaluated thatgoverment size practices of countries around the world restrict entrepreneurship and also, economicfreedom is needed to ensure entrepreneurship within the framework of the relational structure,entrepreneurship contributes more than economic freedom. Apart from these, this study is thought to contribute to the literature in the context of explaining the importance of establishing economicfreedom in order to ensure entrepreneurship.

Özet

Amaç - Ekonomik özgürlüğün girişimciliği etkilemesindeki faktörlerin hassasiyet değerlerini,ekonomik özgürlüğün girişimciliği etkilemesinde ilişkisel yapıya katkı sağlayan faktörlerindeğerlerini ve ekonomik özgürlüğün girişimcilik boyutuna olan etkisini ölçmektir. Yöntem - 2019 yılı için 115 ülkenin Ekonomik Özgürlük Endeksi’ni ve Küresel GirişimcilikEndeksi’ni oluşturan faktörlere ait değerler üzerinden yapısal eşitlik modellemesi ile ekonomiközgürlük boyutunun, girişimcilik boyutuna olan etkisi ölçülmüştür. Bulgular - Araştırmada, ekonomik özgürlüğün girişimciliği anlamlı, pozitif yönde ve çok yüksekseviyede etkilediği veya sağladığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma devamında, ekonomik özgürlükboyutunun girişimcilik boyutunu etkilemesinde en hassas ve en fazla ilişkisel yapıya katkı sağlayanfaktörün ekonomik özgürlük boyutu açısından hukukun üstünlüğü, girişimcilik boyutu açısındanise girişimsel yetenekler olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca ekonomik özgürlüğün girişimcilikboyutunu etkilemesine yönelik ilişkisel yapıya en az katkı sağlayan sınırlı devlet faktörü olduğubelirlenmiştir. Ekonomik özgürlük ile girişimcilik boyutları arasındaki ilişkisel yapıya girişimciliğinekonomik özgürlüğe göre daha çok katkı sağladığı bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Tartışma - Ekonomik özgürlük faaliyetlerinin hukuksal bir temelde yapılanmasıyla ve girişimselyeteneklerin daha çok belirginleşmesiyle küresel anlamda ekonomik özgürlük girişimciliğioluşturmasında daha işlevsel bir rol oynamaktadır. Ekonomik özgürlük kapsamında sınırlı devletfaktörünün girişimciliği az etkilemesi çerçevesinde dünya üzerinde ülkelerin sınırlı devletuygulamaların girişimciliği kısıtladığı ve ayrıca ilişkisel yapıya, girişimciliğin ekonomik özgürlüğegöre daha çok katkı sağlaması çerçevesinde girişimciliğin sağlanması için ekonomik özgürlüğeihtiyaç duyulduğu değerlendirilmiştir. Bunların dışında bu çalışma, girişimciliğin sağlanması içinekonomik özgürlüğün oluşturulmasının öneminin açıklanması kapsamında literatüre katkısağladığı düşünülmüştür.
