MALIGNANT MELANOMA, OUR CLINICAL EXPERIENCE OF 10 YEARS

Abstract

The incidence of cutaneous malignant melanoma has been increasing all around the world in the recent years. In this study, we have retrospectively reviewed data from 55 patients with cutaneous malignant melanoma who admitted to Plastic Surgery Clinic of our Hospital between January 2003 and August 2013 (10 years). The parameters that we have surveyed in patients included annual distribution of patients, age, gender, occupation, location of the lesions on the body surface, presence of nevus prior to melanoma, histopathological type, Breslow thickness, mitotic activity rates, stage at the diagnosis, metastasis rates in follow-up period. At the end of the study, we concluded that the incidence of cutaneous malignant melanoma in our region has been increasing since 2003. Mortality and morbidity rates, as well will decrease with early diagnosis and treatment.

Özet

Kutanöz malign melanomun insidansı tüm dünyada artış göstermektedir. Çalışmamamızda Ocak 2003 ve Ağustos 2013 tarihleri arasında Haydarpaşa Numune Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Plastik, Rekonstrüktif ve Estetik Cerrahi Kliniğine başvuran; tedavi ve takip edilen 55 malign melanomlu hasta retrospektif olarak incelendi. Olgular, yaş, cinsiyet, lezyonun yerleşimi, boyutu, histolojik tipi ve evresi, Breslow kalınlığı, lenf nodu tutulumu, premalign lezyon varlığı, metastaz ve nüks açısından değerlendirildi. Çalışmanın sonucunda, kliniğimize başvuran hastalar arasında yıllar içerisinde kutanöz malign melanom insidansının artış gösterdiği bulunmuştur. Erken tanı ve tedavi ile birlikte tüm kanser türlerinde olduğu gibi mortalite ve morbidite oranları azalmaktadır.
