Abstract
In order to investigate, the effect of sex steroids on serum lipid levels, total gonadectomy carried out in 16 of Spraque Dawley adult rats consist of 8 female, and 8 male rats. All the animals had been fed by standart pellet chow. After sixty days of gonadectomy, "the rats were sacrificed and blood samples'drowen to measure the levels of serum total cholesterol, 'triglyceride, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein A1, and apolipoprotein B. The values P < 0.05 were considered as a statistically meaningful. As compared to control group, triglyceride, total cholesterol and triglyceride/total cholesterol ratio in gonadectomized femal rats were significantly higher (P < 0.001). There was no significantly differences in blood lipid levels in gonadectomized male rats, when compared with control group. Apolipoprotein levels in both sexes did not show any significantly differences as compared to control group. All of these data indicated that; 1) Estrogen insufficiency leads to the increments in plasma lipoprotein levels,in contrast androjenwere ineffective for significantly alterations in lipid values. 2) Changes in both sex steroid androgen and estrogen levels don't effect the serum apolipoprotein concentrations in early phase of gonadectomy. 3) The morphological evaluation of the blood vessels which is eligible to the atherosclerotic development might be offer further information.
Özet
Bu çalışmada 8 erkek, 8 dişi toplam 16 gonadektomi-li Spraque-Dawley yetişkin sıçanda sex steroidlerinin serum lipid düzeylerine etkisi araştırıldı. Tüm hayvan¬lar standart pellet yemle beslendi. Gonedektomiden 60 gün sonra sıçanların kalplerinden kan örnekleri alındı. Alınan kan örneklerinde serum total kolesterol, trigliserid, HDL kolesterol, LDL kolesterol, apolipop-rotein A1 ve apolipoprotein B düzeyleri ölçüldü. P
