Necrotizing fasciitis due to colostomy perforation

Abstract

Necrotizing fasciitis is a mixed infection of the skin and subcutaneous tissues with a characteristic clinical and pathological appearence. It is characterized by wide¬spread necrosis of fascia and subcutaneous tissue. It has been associated with significant mortality and morbidity. Despite antibiotics and agressive debridment, significant morbidity exists if operation is delayed.
