Abstract
There are many sub-titles that can be collected under the “science fction” as a genre of cinema. A science fction flm forces the boundaries of the imaginary power of the audience with various topics such as extra-terrestrials, disaster scenarios, dystopias, and time travels, while at the same time it brings together with the audience the artifcial intelligence, which has a signifcant potential of development, and a future in today’s high technology. The science fction cinema which is loaded with the mission of presenting a progressive point of view for the audience also contains hints about the dimensions of the interaction between artifcial intelligence and human beings. While artifcial intelligence has always had a place in the science fction cinema in different ways, it is often associated with fear arisen in the human-beings, and the possibility of their uncontrollable developments bringing the end of the mankind has become the main source of this fear. However, artifcial intelligence in the cinema is not represented as in the way that it is hostile to people. In artifcial intelligence and human interaction, the processing of a deep and boundless feeling such as “love” arouses a desire to analyze. It is worth investigating that the refections of the “love” sentiment, which is thought to be related to human beings, is shared with artifcial intelligence to science fction cinema. Especially in recent years, flm samples in which people are in love with artifcial intelligence are found frequently in science fction cinema. In this study, it is aimed to describe different dimensions of how “love” is handled in artifcial intelligence-human interaction. In this study it is aimed to evaluate how the love between the artifcial intelligence and man takes place in the cinema by making thematic flm analysis of the selected flms of the post-2010 period, which are The Machine (2013), Ex Machina (2014) and Uncanny (2015) with the common themes of “love and sexuality”, “technology and science”, “loneliness”, “body”, “learning”, “violence”, “truth and lies”, “surveillance”, “creative”, and “death and birth”.
