Abstract
ABSTRACT: This paper aims to analyse the structure in the seven books byCemal Şakar, one of the most remarkable short story writers in the recent periodof Turkish narratives. The paper argues that his art of narration in his stories canbe reviewed in two periods. In the first period, the writer creates a modernist andindividual fictional world. Thus, in his earlier short stories inner monologuesprevail over the structure. In the second period, he is seen to be concerned withsocial messages pertaining to Turkish and Islamic context from the point of viewof postmodernism and visual world. The study shows that his narratives revealmore salient changes in structure in this period.
