Game Addiction and Emotion of Responsibility and Behavior of Responsibility and Social Skills in Secondary School Students

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between middle school students' game addiction and their emotion of responsibility and behavior of responsibility and social skills. The study was conducted with a total of 500 students, 341 (68.2%) females and 159 (31.8%) males. As the data collection tools in the study, the emotion of responsibility and behavior of responsibility Scale (SDSO), the Adolescent Game Addiction Scale, the Social Skills Scale and the personal information form created by the researcher were used. The data obtained were analyzed using Unrelated Group t Test, Pearson Moments Multiplication Correlation Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis. As a result of the research, a significant and negative relationship was found between game addiction and social skills and emotion of responsibility and behavior of responsibility. A positive relationship was found between the emotion of responsibility and behavior of responsibility and social skills. It has been determined that the emotion of responsibility and behavior of responsibility significantly predicted game addiction, while social skill did not significantly predict game addiction.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı ortaokul öğrencilerinde oyun bağımlılığı ile sorumluluk duygusu-davranışı ve sosyal beceri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemektir. Çalışma 341 (%68.2) kız, 159 (%31.8) erkek olmak üzere toplam 500 öğrenci üzerinde yapılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak, Sorumluluk Duygusu ve Davranışı Değerlendirme Ölçeği (SSDÖ), Ergenler İçin Oyun Bağımlılığı Ölçeği, Sosyal Beceriler Ölçeği ve araştırmacının oluşturduğu kişisel bilgi formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler İlişkisiz Grup t Testi, Pearson Momentler Çarpım Korelasyon Analizi ve Çoklu Regresyon testleri ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda oyun bağımlılığı ile sosyal beceri ve sorumluluk duygusu-davranışı arasında anlamlı ve negatif yönde bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Sorumluluk duygusu-davranışı ve sosyal beceriler arasında pozitif yönde bir ilişki bulunmuştur. Sorumluluk duygusu- davranışının oyun bağımlılığını anlamlı bir şekilde yordadığı, sosyal becerinin ise oyun bağımlılığını anlamlı bir şekilde yordamadığı tespit edilmiştir.
