Abstract

Fahr's disease (Progressive idiopathic strio-pallidodentate calcinosis) is characterized with bilateral vascular, non-arteriosclerotic, pathological calcifications in white matter of cerebral hemispheres and cerebellar dentate nucleus. Although clinical symptoms are variable, seizures, speech disorder, neuropsychiatrie symptoms, cerebellar and extrapyramidal disfunctions are mostly seen. In this manuscript, a Fahr's disease case with mental retardation and status epilepticus will be reported.

Özet

Fahr's hastalığı (ilerleyici İdyopatik strio-pallidodentat kalsinozis), patolojik olarak bazal ganglionlar, serebral hemisfer beyaz cevherinde ve serebellumun dentat nükleuslarmda bilateral damarsal nonarteriosklerotik kalsifikasyonlar ile karakterizedir. Klinik tablo değişkenlik göstermekle birlikte hastaların çoğunda nöropsikiyatrik semptomlar, nöbet, konuşma bozuklukları, demans ve ekstrapiramidal veya serebellar disfonksiyon gibi durumlar görülebilir. Bu yazıda zeka geriliği ve epileptik status ile karakterize Fahr's hastalığı olgusu sunulmuştur.
