Converse-kazanjian commisuroplasty in microstomy: Comparison of early and late results

Abstract
Damage to thi commisures due to the accidents and operations, diminishing mouth opening, results in microstomy deformity. The most important principle in the treatment of this deformity causing esthetic and functional problems is, if possible, preventin. In this article, early and late results of the Converse-Kazanjian commisuroplasty treatment of four female and two male patient who had admitted to our clinic, between 2001 and 2003, with the complaint of microstomy due to the etiological reasons are reported and the general principles of this technique are duscussed.

Komisürlerin çeşitli kazalar ve operasyonlarla zedelenmesi, ağız açıklığını küçülterek mikrostomi deformitesine yol açar. Estetik ve fonksiyonel problemlere yol açan bu deformitenin tedavisinde en önemli prensip, eğer mümkünse, önlenmesidir. Mikrostomi deformitesinin tedavisi için çeşitli yöntemler bildirilmiştir. Bu makalede, 2001-2003 yılları arasında çeşitli etiyolojik nedenlere bağlı gelişmiş mikrostomi şikayeti ile kliniğimize başvuran dört kadın ve iki erkek hastanın Converse-Kazanjian komisüroplastisi ile tedavilerinin erken ve geç dönem sonuçları sunulmuş ve bu tekniğin genel prensipleri tartışılmıştır.
