Abstract

The snapping hip syndrome which is typically seen in young individuals is a complex syndrome characterized with pain and an audible snapping of the hip with movement. The sensation of a snapping hip is due to various causes which can be classified into three types: externel, internal, and intra-articular. Its diagnosis and treatment are often difficult. Differential epidural block was performed for snapping hip surgery to allow patient's active movement which is definitive for regional diagnosis during surgery. We administered 0.2.5 % bupivacaine (30 mg) and additional fentanyl 50 $mu$g epidurally. Effective pain block with, maintenance of motor function was realised by differential epidural block with, the combination of low concentration of local anaesthetics and low dose opioid
