Abstract

Objective: To demonstrate the histopathological efectsof the long-term use of cromolyn sodium on healthy ratnasal mucosa using the light microscope.Methods: Te animals were grouped according to theintranasal administered agents: frst group (n=10), intra-nasal 10 μL saline administration; second group (n=10),intranasal 10 μL cromolyn sodium with the help of amicropipette for one month duration.Results: When we assessed mucosal edema and in-creased goblet cell number, there were no statisticaldiferences between control and study groups (p>0.05).However, the assessment of decreased epithelial thick-ness and squamous metaplasia between control andstudy groups revealed signifcant diferences (respec-tively: p=0.001, p=0.001; p

Amaç: Uzun süre kullanım sonucunda kromolin sodiumiçeren topikal nazal bir spreyin sağlıklı sıçan burun mukozası üzerinde ortaya çıkarttığı histopatolojik değişiklikleri ışık mikroskopu ile incelemekti. Yöntemler: Onar sıçandan oluşan iki ayrı gruptaki hayvanların bir grubunun burnuna 10 μL salin, diğer grubun burnuna 10 μL kromolin sodyum bir mikropipetyardımıyla bir ay süreyle uygulanmıştır. Bulgular: Kontrol grubu ile çalışma grubu karşılaştırıldığında mukozal ödem ve artmış goblet hücre sayısında istatistiki açıdan anlamlı bir değişiklik görülmedi(p>0,05).
