Rapid canine distalization with the use of periodontal distraction osteogenesis technique (A preliminary case report)

Periodontal distraksiyon osteogenezis yöntem ile gerçekleştirilen hızlı kanin distalizasyonu (Olgu sunumu - ön çalışma)

Abstract

When distraction osteogenesis technique is used for orthodontic tooth movement it is called periodontal distraction osteogenesis. Orthodontic tooth movement is a periodontal fenomen which is characterizied with alveolar bone resorption on the pressure side and alveolar bone deposition on the tension side. After the mechanical stimulus, periodontal ligament is stretched(distracted) and followed by alveolar bone deposition (osteogenesis). in our study a rapid canine distalization case is presented in which periodontal distraction osteogenesis technique is used by an intraoral tooth-born distractor which is developed in our clinic. it is tought that this new technique, which decreases the canine distalization process in a short period such as 3-4 vveeks, is going to be common in the future, when supported with clinical and histological studies

Özet

Distraksiyon osteogenezis tekniği ortodontik diş hareketi elde etmek amacıyla kullanıldığında periodontal distraksiyon osteogenezis adını almaktadır. Ortodontik diş hareketi gerilme tarafında alveolar kemik depozisyonu, sıkışma tarafında da alveolar kemik repozisyonu ile karakterize periodontal bir fenomendir. Mekanik stimulusu takiben periodontal ligament gerilmekte bir başka deyişle distrakte olmakta ve ardından kemik depozisyonu yani osteogenezis gelişmektedir. Çalışmamızda periodontal distraksiyon osteogenezis oluşturmak amacıyla kliniğimizde geliştirdiğimiz intraoral diş destekli distraktör yardımıyla gerçekleştirilen hızlı kanin distalizyonu elde edilmiş bir olgu sunulmuştur. Kanın distalizasyonunu 3-4 hafta gibi kısa bir süreye sığdıran bu yeni tekniğin klinik ve histolojik verilerle desteklendiğinde günümüz ortodontisinde yaygın kullanım alanı bulacağı düşünülmektedir.
